A Week After the Launch of Product Delight
After more than a year of writing, refining, and preparing for publication, last week marked a milestone: the official launch of Product Delight on Amazon. I wanted to take a moment to share how this launch came together and what it meant to me.
Preparing for the Launch
Although the manuscript was finalized in July 2025, I knew that publishing a book is not just about writing, it’s about creating the right momentum around it. I wanted the launch to be more than a date on the calendar. It had to be an experience.
Here are some of the key steps I took:
1. Sharing powerful testimonials
I had the privilege of receiving endorsements from top experts and industry leaders such as Marty Cagan, Nir Eyal, Martin Eriksson, Matt LeMay, and many more. Sharing their words early helped set the tone and credibility of the book.
2. Sending early copies to contributors
The book was shaped with the help of many contributors, through interviews, feedback, and encouragement. As soon as the Amazon page was live, I sent copies to those who had shared insights and supported me along the journey.
3. Crafting the Amazon presence
This was a big learning curve. I wanted the Amazon page to fully reflect the essence of Product Delight—both visually and strategically.
Description & A+ content: I invested time in writing a clear, engaging description that explains not just what the book is about but also why it matters. I designed enhanced A+ content with visuals, key takeaways, and testimonials to make the page stand out.
Pricing strategy: I had to dive deep into Amazon’s pricing models across paperback, hardcover, and eBook formats. I experimented with different ranges, balancing accessibility for readers with fair value for the content. I also learned how pricing shifts between countries and how important it is to align categories correctly.
KDP eBook edition: Preparing the Kindle version was a whole journey on its own. From formatting to testing on different Kindle devices, I discovered how much detail goes into creating a smooth digital reading experience. Uploading through Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) gave me flexibility, but also required fine-tuning to ensure consistency with the print editions.
All of this preparation meant that by the time the launch date arrived, the Amazon page was not just a place to buy the book, but an experience in itself.
4. Podcast and blog preparation
Another essential part of the launch was making sure the conversation about delight reached the right audiences.
Podcast recordings: I recorded multiple podcast episodes with hosts from the product community, each focusing on a different angle of delight—how to identify emotional needs, how to differentiate products, and how leaders can build teams that prioritize connection. These episodes were scheduled to go live before, during, and after the launch week, ensuring continuous visibility and reach.
Blog series: I also prepared a blog editorial plan, extracting chapters and insights from the book into shorter, digestible articles. The goal was to give readers immediate value while building curiosity about the full book. Topics included frameworks like the Delight Grid and Delight Opportunity Map, as well as case studies from companies like Google, Spotify, and Airbnb.
Newsletter integration: To keep momentum, I aligned these blogs with my newsletter Delight Tips, giving subscribers an inside look at the book’s ideas and inviting them to join the journey.
I wanted to thank all those who helped share the words about Product Delight and help evengilizing it.
5. Sharing behind-the-scenes stories
To build anticipation, I shared glimpses of the journey, videos of the very first copy in my hands, photos of preparation moments, and teaser countdown videos. These pieces of storytelling created connection before the launch day.
5. Preparing a special launch event
I wanted the launch to be a celebration, not just an announcement. I organized an invitation-only event to mark this milestone with close friends, colleagues, and community members. This required careful logistics, finding the right location, working with photographers, and sending personalized invitations.
Most authors will tell you that a launch event isn’t necessary, and often not worth the effort. For me, though, it became a powerful moment, not only for the emotional support it brought, but also because it marked the official launch and allowed my close circle to take part in sharing it.
The Launch
On September 23rd, 2025, Product Delight officially became available on Amazon globally.
To mark the occasion, I created an announcement video with a designer, something personal and emotional to capture the effort behind the book and the joy of sharing it with the world.
The true highlight of the day was not the Amazon rankings or dashboards, but the launch event itself. The celebration gathered friends, colleagues, and members of the product community for an evening filled with joy, laughter, and connection.
This moment made the milestone even more memorable, a reminder that such achievements are best celebrated together.
The First Days
The response was overwhelming. Thanks to the support, shares, and encouragement from the community, Product Delight quickly reached #1 on Amazon in the Production & Operations category during its first two days.
Just two days later, Product Delight became a Best Seller on Amazon.com.
This milestone is a true recognition of the hard work, preparation, and strategic launch that went into bringing this book to life.
Looking Ahead
This is only the beginning of the journey for Product Delight. Over the coming months, I’ll continue sharing insights from the book, engaging with product communities around the world, and bringing the conversation about creating emotional connection in products to more stages and teams.
I’m incredibly grateful for all the support so far. While writing may be a solitary process, publishing and celebrating is a collective one.
Thank you
